This Annandale rambler is much bigger than it looks from the street. Our newest Team DDA YouTube tour takes you inside a bright, thoughtfully updated home with a large kitchen, spacious main level bedrooms, an enormous finished lower level, a separate suite style area, and a backyard that feels like a hidden garden. See everything Trish and Nicole discovered in the full Annandale home tour on YouTube, or browse Northern Virginia homes for sale to explore more homes throughout Fairfax County.
From the outside, the home has the classic appearance of an established Northern Virginia rambler.
Once you step inside, that impression changes quickly.
Why This Annandale Location Stands Out
The tour begins with one of the home's biggest advantages: location.
Trish highlights easy access to I 495, multiple bus options toward the Pentagon, and convenient access toward Old Town Alexandria. The home also has a large driveway, which immediately gets Trish thinking about entertaining and having plenty of room for guests to park.
The video identifies the home with Wakefield Forest Elementary School, Frost Middle School, and Woodson High School. School assignments can change, so buyers should always confirm a specific property's current assignment using the Fairfax County Public Schools Boundary Locator before making a housing decision. FCPS implemented boundary changes for the 2026 to 2027 school year.
But the location is only part of what makes this house interesting.
The Kitchen Has Some Personality
The kitchen is one of the first spaces Trish and Nicole explore, and it quickly becomes a conversation.
There is plenty of pantry storage, large drawers, under cabinet lighting, glass front cabinetry, a gas cooktop, and distinctive countertops that perfectly match the personality of the rest of the house.
Those countertops also lead to one of the questions at the end of the video.
Do you love them?
Or would you choose something different?

Natural Light Changes the Entire House
One detail keeps coming up throughout the walkthrough.
The windows are huge.
Natural light fills the kitchen, bedrooms, primary suite, and even much of the lower level. The homeowners have also replaced the windows, something Nicole points out can become a significant expense for buyers purchasing an older property.
The main level also features original hardwood flooring in portions of the home, flexible bedrooms, and a surprisingly large renovated primary bathroom.
For this style and age of home, the primary bathroom immediately gets their attention.
We will leave the full reveal for the video.
The Lower Level Is Where the House Gets Really Surprising
This may be the part of the tour that best explains why the home feels so much larger than expected.
The finished lower level includes a large recreation room with a gas fireplace, wet bar, direct backyard access, additional storage, and plenty of natural light.
Then Trish and Nicole discover another section.
It includes a full bathroom, another room, a deep closet, and its own connection to the backyard. They immediately start imagining how it could work as a private area for guests, an older child, or another household member.
And that still is not everything downstairs.
There is also one of the biggest laundry rooms they have seen, another refrigerator, utility areas, and additional storage.
The house just keeps going.

The Backyard Feels Like a Secret Garden
Then comes the backyard.
This is where the home changes personality again.
Instead of a simple lawn, Trish and Nicole walk into a landscaped outdoor space with extensive hardscaping, established trees, winding pathways, raised garden areas, a deck, multiple sitting areas, and plenty of greenery.
They describe it as feeling almost like a secret garden.
The mature landscaping is also part of what they appreciate about the surrounding neighborhood.
This does not feel like a brand new development where homeowners are waiting years for trees and landscaping to fill in.
It already feels established.
Even the Garage Has a Smart Detail
Just when the tour seems finished, there is another feature worth seeing.
The garage includes an epoxy floor and a small dedicated area near the entrance that could become a mudroom style drop zone for shoes, backpacks, storage, and everyday items.
There is also direct exterior access that makes taking trash cans outside surprisingly convenient.
It is a small detail, but it leads Nicole and Trish to the same conclusion they reach throughout the tour.
The homeowners thought carefully about how the house actually functions.
