You can book Game Show Battle Rooms in Tysons directly online, or explore more restaurants, entertainment, and things to do at The Borowhile planning your visit.
Game Show Battle Rooms opened its Northern Virginia location at The Boro earlier this year, and unlike the original announcement that it was coming soon, it is now fully open and accepting reservations.
What Is Game Show Battle Rooms?
Game Show Battle Rooms is essentially your chance to stop watching game shows from your couch and actually become a contestant.
Your group enters a custom game show arena and is divided into two teams. A live game show host guides everyone through three different games over approximately one hour, with teams earning Battle Points along the way. The team with the most points at the end becomes the champion.
It feels competitive without taking itself too seriously, which is exactly why it worked so well for our Team DDA outing.
We laughed a lot.
We got competitive.
There was plenty of yelling answers across the room.
And there were definitely a few people who discovered they cared a lot more about winning than they thought they did.
What Games Do You Play?
The Tysons location currently offers two different experiences.
Classic Showdowns
The Classic option includes three games:
Survey Battle, where teams try to identify the most popular survey responses
Spin and Solve, featuring a giant wheel and phrase solving
What's That Cost, which tests how well you can estimate prices
The games intentionally feel familiar to anyone who grew up watching television game shows, while using Game Show Battle Rooms' own format and branding.
Primetime Showdowns
The Primetime option also includes three games:
Survey Battle
Match Up Wars, where players try to predict teammates' answers
Time Rush Games, featuring a series of fast 60 second challenges
Which version is better probably depends on your group.
If you like trivia, guessing, quick thinking, and competitive chaos, either one should give you plenty to work with.
What Was It Like When Team DDA Went?
This is the part we can speak to personally.
It was super fun.
Game Show Battle Rooms works especially well for a team because everyone participates. You are not sitting around waiting for one person to do an activity while everyone else watches.
The format keeps the entire group involved and gives people who may not normally interact as much an opportunity to work together.
You also learn some things about your coworkers.
Who knows completely random answers?
Who stays calm under pressure?
Who immediately becomes team captain?
And who starts treating a friendly game like the championship round?
We had a great time, and it is easy to see why the experience is marketed so heavily toward company outings and team building.
It Is Great for More Than Corporate Team Building
You definitely do not need to bring your office.
The Game Show Battle Rooms Tysons location is designed for groups ranging from friends and families to birthday parties, school groups, sports teams, bachelor and bachelorette parties, and corporate events.
The current Tysons booking page allows standard groups of 8 to 36 guests, while larger events can be arranged separately. All groups are private, so you are competing with the people you came with rather than being combined with strangers.
That makes it especially appealing for:
Office outings
Birthday parties
Family gatherings
Friend groups
School groups
Sports teams
Holiday parties
Bachelor and bachelorette parties
If your group already has a competitive streak, this could get entertaining very quickly.
