By then the seller had, understandably, gone with the other buyer. I was traumatized. By contrast, Donovan understands that speed is make-or-break in realty. He also has something you can’t train. His deep, resonant voice sounds like silk and honey had a baby. Seriously. Talk to him for a minute and you trust him and feel safe, almost without realizing it. I knew listing agents would feel the same way, and in a market like this, you want the listing agent to lean in when you talk. Once we found the house we wanted, he made chess-master moves. We hit about five decision points along the way and at each one he was our trusted advisor, coaching us on our options and what could happen down each path. He'd share what might put us in a good light but never with a tone of judgement if we just couldn't swing it financially. Throughout, he had strong communication and rapport and utmost professionalism with the listing agent and our mortgage lenders, just as I predicted and hoped he would. I don’t have a doubt in my mind that in this highly competitive market, Donovan was our guardian angel. This is the home we’ll live in until our little ones head off to college, and long after. It's our forever home. We look around and feel like we’ve somehow caught a chapter of the American dream. We’re on a cul-de-sac street, so our kids play outside with the neighborhood kids every night until dinner. The ice cream truck comes by and the birds are chirping and the squirrels are romping. Our friends joke that pulling up to our house feels like walking onto the set of a TV sitcom. It’s that picturesque. We owe it all to Donovan and Debbie Dogrul Associates, LLC.
